Frequently asked questions
Does it replace the macOS Dock?
It runs alongside it as a separate dock. You can set the macOS Dock to auto-hide (System Settings → Desktop & Dock → “Automatically hide and show the Dock”) so it stays out of the way.
What can I put in the dock?
Apps, folders, files, scripts, a clock, a desktop switcher and shortcuts. Pinned items are kept separate from running apps, so the dock stays predictable.
The app asked for a permission. Why?
Pilaster asks for one optional permission, only if you turn on Keyboard Control: permission to press macOS’s own desktop-switching shortcuts and to send Command-Q to an app you choose to quit. It never sees your windows or reads your typing. You can review or change them in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Does it collect any data?
No. Pilaster does not collect, track, or transmit personal data. See the Privacy Policy.
How do I get a refund for Pilaster?
App Store purchases are refunded by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and select Pilaster.
Troubleshooting
The dock does not appear
- Make sure the app is running (look for its icon in the menu bar or Activity Monitor).
- Check that any permissions it requested are turned on in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Quit and reopen the app.
- If it still does not appear, restart your Mac and try again.
Permissions are on, but something still does not work
macOS sometimes keeps a stale permission after an update. - Quit the app.
- In System Settings → Privacy & Security, select the permission, remove the app with the minus (–) button.
- Reopen the app and grant the permission again when asked.
